Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (WII)

“This game starts off very poorly, with both unlikable characters and a weak storyline. But after several hours the storyline hits its stride, and the characters (especially Emil) develop likable traits. I actually became hooked towards the end.”

“Gameplay-wise, it's the same hot-key mashing as every other MMORPG, but this one has a more colorful presentation. The world is bright and diverse, with beaches, forests, and caves. The music is also rather catchy. It still gets stale fast though.”

“Claims to have the most amazing PvP ever. The problem is you need to be level 70+ to stand a chance. So the game becomes a grind fest to the extreme. Add in lousy quests, boring PvE, terrible music, and a mostly Turkish player base. Ugggghhh.”

Shadow the Hedgehog (GC)

“A very fun, though difficult game. It doesn't quite have the Sonic feel, though the game isn't trying to be a Sonic game. The levels are interesting, with branching story paths. Some of the missions (kill ALL enemies) can be annoying though.”

CIMA: The Enemy (GBA)

“Guide civilians through monster infested dungeons. Get to the end, fight a boss. Repeat. And when you or a civilian is killed, it's Game Over. This game had great potential, but the dumb civilian AI, and really repetitive levels drag it down.”

Fighter Maker 2 (PS2)

“This is definitely the easiest to use Fighter Maker out there. You create a fighter, animate its moves, and then assign it button commands. However the character models always look pretty ugly, and getting a realistic motion down is very tough.”

Final Fantasy VIII (PS)

“This is where Final Fantasy fell apart. The Draw system makes battles go on far too long. GF's completely outclass magic and melee, killing all need for strategy. And the party is composed of the most IRRITATING characters, from emos to morons. ”
